TOURISM

The LOC is doing everything possible to make the conference period enjoyable and stress-free. Excursions to Nigeria’s choicest Tourist attraction centres are being planned to facilitate maximum relaxation. There will be a guided tour of any one or two of the following Tourist Centres:

i.                     The palace of the traditional monarch, the Alaafin of Oyo at Oyo town, capital of the ancient Oyo Kingdom. The monarch (Alaafin) and his chiefs in council may be listed to address the participants. The palace bands/ courtiers may also be listed to entertain the participants.

ii.                   The palace of the traditional monarch of Osogbo and a guided tour of the Osun shrine. Osun is a popular Yoruba river goddess. Osogbo is also noted for dyed clothes (adire).

iii.                  Other places of interest that could be visited include:

a.       The Old Oyo National Park

b.      Ikogosi Warm and cold spring

c.       Yankari Games Reserve

d.      The Nigeria Hydroelectric power station at the Kainji Lake, New Bussa, Niger State.

iv.                 The palace of the Ooni at Ile-Ife, and the popular Ife Museun.

CULTURAL ENTERTAINMENT

To make the conference memorable, participants would be treated to Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage – cultural dances, music and art. A reknown Nigerian cultural troupe would be on hand to entertain participants at the conference.
